Louis Roederer

Champagne Louis Roederer, founded in 1776, is one of the rare family owned houses left in Champagne. For two centuries, five generations have succeeded each other, all inspired by the same concern for quality. Today, Jean-Claude Rouzot, oenologist and grandson of Madame Camille Orly-Roederer, presides over the future of the Reims house and oversees its development.
Roederer's finest asset is its 190 hectares of vineyards, all of which are of premier or grand cru status. These provide 2/3 of the grapes required, giving perfect quality control over the fruit, essential in the making of a great wine (it should be noted that the “Grandes Marques” in total own only 12% of the area planted).
The style and the consistent quality of Louis Roederer champagnes also derives from the exceptional importance given to its great variety of reserve wines: 800,000 litres lie maturing in oak barrels for between two and five years. This is an extremely high cost investment but these are the wines which, when blended, bring elegance, vinosity, complexity and roundness. In a word, the Roederer style.
