ListelThe history of the wines of the Sables du Golfe de Lion and the Camargue is closely linked to that of the Pays d'Oc. Created in 1883, when it was found that phylloxera could not survive in sandy soil, the Domaines Listel vineyards had their beginnings in the region of Aigues-Mortes. The soil is quite unusual, being composed of wind-borne and marine sand. It is light and imparts a special character to the Vins de Pays du Golfe de Lion, 80% of which are marketed by Domaines Listel. The original vineyard was completely destroyed during the second world war and was reconstituted with 1,800 hectares of vines, 1,400 of which are in the Sables du Golfe de Lion, 300 in the Provence appellation and 100 in the Côtes-du-Rhône. Classic grape varieties form the basis for the wines which are carefully made with a view to maintaining consistent and excellent quality.Listel in Quebec |
