Château de SalettesChâteau de Salettes is located 50 kilometres north-east of Toulouse in the appellation of Gaillac which covers 73 communes. In the commune of Cahuzac/Vère, in the centre of the Premières Côtes, the historic heart of the region's vineyards, Château de Salettes, built in the 12th century, overlooks its vines. Facing due south on chalky-clay soil, perfect for vines, the château's vineyards benefit from an exceptional geo-climatic situation. An average of 40 years old, the vines planted here are only those that are typical of the appellation such as the Duras and Braucol for the red wines and Mauzac and Len de l'El for the whites. The richness and the original character of our wine results from the blending of these grape varieties. In the search for quality, a rigorous selection process is carried out during the different steps of harvest, vinification and aging. Each grape variety and parcel of land is vinified separately and only our finest wines are kept for aging. This takes place in 400 litre barrels and lasts for between 6 and 18 months, depending on the harvest.Château de Salettes in Quebec |
