Baron E.de Rothschild

In 1973, banker Edmond Rothschild, who was associated with Château Lafite-Rothschild, acquired two properties. Both were Crus Bourgeois in the Médoc, one in the Listrac appellation, Château Clarke, and the other in Moulis, Château Malmaison. Together they represent almost 80 hectares in one continuous block, which is extremely rare in the region, but the vineyards had been abandoned. <br> Revivng them started in 1974 with the planting of vines which was spread over several years, and rebuilding the winemaking facilities and the aging cellars. In 1983, the very promising Château Peyre-Lebade was added to the properties and today, the three properties together cover 190 hectares of which 134 are in production.
