Calvet

In 1818, Jean-Marie Calvet founds the Calvet company in Tain l’Hermitage, in the Drôme, where his family are vineyards owners. In 1823, just 5 years later, Jean Marie Calvet sets up at the heart of Bordeaux, in the ‘quartier des Chartrons’, the bustling center for the wine trade. In 1870, Octave Calvet, the founder’s son, approves the construction of a grand building in Cours du Médoc. Nowadays it is the Calvet Headquarter. In 1889, Jean Calvet, the founder’s great-grandson, sets up Calvet Beaune in Burgundy. In 1982, Calvet becomes a subsidiary of the Whitbread Group and then the Allied Domecq group. And in 1997, Calvet becomes an independent French-owned company again, under the direction of his president : Jack Drounau The company is endowed with fresh dynamism thanks to considerable investment in human and material resources and has been able to rethink is role of authentic negociant and its approach to wines in order to be closer to today’s consumer.
